Nevada’s public realm comprises physically, culturally and politically complex wildlands. Gain a sense of the high desert through experiential workshops. Learn from professional artists and scholars about the intricacies that form grand vistas and sage-covered plains.

Photography

In the spirit of exploration photography and those who documented the west at the turn of the century, participants will be exposed to remote roads and locales rarely traveled. A variety of terrain from arid valleys , alkali playas, to lush forests will serve as the viewscapes for honing technical and compositional skills.

Exploration

Travel to rural sights that provide awe-inspiring subjects. Learn about the  histories through readings, lectures and discussions about the realities of a landscape in flux, and ways of life at risk.

Culture

Visit culturally significant locations from Paiute petroglyphs, historic ranchlands, and large-scale mining juxtapose against once pristine mountain and desert ecosystems.

Accommodations

Enjoy luxury basecamp facilities, food and services. One and two-person accommodations are spacious and offer protection from the harsh desert climate.
